Der westliche Lotus oder Zürbelbaum wächst in der Provinz Neuyork zu einem Baum von 40–50 Fuß hoch und 2 Fuß im Durchschnitte dik. Er steht in flachliegenden Gegenden auf kleinen Hügeln, oder an den Ufern der frischen Bäche und Flüsse, doch jederzeit in einer geschützten Lage.
